Spaces for Wellbeing at ETZ
For the Elisabeth-Tweesteden Hospital in Tilburg (NL) we researched the experience and needs of patients and employees and designed three Spaces for Wellbeing at the Daycare Oncology Centre.
At this department patients come during the day to get chemo therapy or immuno therapy treatment, based on scheduled appointments. Together with an environmental psychologist (Renske Bongers, MSc) and a sensorial curator (Justine Kontou) we aimed to enhance the feeling of social support and a sense of belonging.
Based on Healing Environments, Attention Restoration Theory and Biophilic Design, we designed Tidal Light and Glowing Colours. Together with a matching wall finish, poem and scent experience, they form a ‘Space for Wellbeing’ in three designated areas throughout the Oncology Department.
